I studied as a PE teacher when I left Larbert High School and I fully appreciated the time and effort I had to put in to ensure I achieved the grades to access the course at Edinburgh University.

Wider Skills
During my time at school I took on leadership opportunities such as leading clubs and providing opportunities for younger pupils, but also volunteering and giving up time to support the work of Tryst Community Sports Club. These experiences taught me good values and the importance of working hard.

What advice would you give your younger self?
Take on these opportunities at an earlier stage. Most of the volunteering/leadership opportunities I took on was in 6th year at school, however I now realise that if I had went for these opportunities would have been there. My key message is, don't wait for opportunities to come to you, get yourself out there and grasp them with two hands.
